The heart is the most important organ of the body which pumps blood to all the other organs in order to keep them functioning. The heart has to work tirelessly for every living second of our life. It is no wonder then, that the heart is the organ that undergoes the highest degree of wear and tear in the human body. In Ayurveda, all heart diseases are collectively known as Hridaya Roga. Depending on their doshic cause, the heart diseases could be Vataka Hridaya Roga, Paittika Hridaya Roga and Kaphaja Hridaya Roga.

Treatment:

1. Pushkarmoola or pushkarmool (Inula racemosa) is an herb found in Kashmir. A nearly twenty-year-old study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology suggests that this herb probably is a natural beta-blocker, although its effects are largely limited to the heart. (Some of the older beta-blockers affect the lungs and can aggravate asthma.)

2. Reduce your stress. Stress not only creates problems within your body, such as dangerously elevated levels of certain hormones; it also may contribute to how you manage your other risks. When you are under stress, you are not so focused on what you will eat, how you will exercise, and other habits you might have. You can improve your health by learning to meditate, pray, or just plain relax.

3. Arjun tea is a herbal tea that is designed by ayurvedic experts after the great researches in that ancient ayurvedic texts. Arjun tea is composed of three prestigious herbs terminalia Arjuna, inula racemosa and cinnamomum zeylanica. These herbs are one of the finest herbs that are extremely beneficial in supporting the basic life functioning and providing strength to the heart.

4. Get good sleep. Getting enough rest is vital to good heart health. A strong correlation seems to exist between a lack of sleep and developing certain heart conditions. It appears that 7 to 8 hours is about right, while 5 or less can be harmful. Even sleeping too much may be a heart risk. Do yourself a favor and get just the right amount of sleep. If you think you have a sleep disorder, this is a great reason to get help with it.

5. Arjuna (bark from the plant Terminalia arjuna) is a "heart tonic" made into a paste (arjunaghrtam), a powder (arjunatvak), a tonic combining the herb and water (arjunatvagadi), or a "wine" (pardhadyaristam) made by fermenting the bark of the herbs with grape juice.

6. Walking is undoubtedly one of the best, quick exercises you can take up in order to strengthen and maintain your heart muscles; begin with a leisurely walk and build up to a brisk pace that you maintain for at least 20 minutes before you slow down to cool off. This works to get the blood pumping effectively and gives you a great work-out!
